Oh, laud, I am a busy busy woman.
We decided to list our house and it's like, a paint job here, a knob screwed there, here a paint, there a knob, every where a paint knob...Old McMissy had a cow, EIEIO.
Ah, memories. Ask Eva Rose about the precious memory above. She was only two, but she will tell you what happened: "Mommy got real, real, real mad and threw me in the baby crib and made me take a nap."
After priming away the Sharpie, I spent several hours rubbing a WD40 pen along Maggie's wall art.
I know you now have Shelia E in your head - me too. She wants to lead the glamorous life...
Tomorrow I shall spend several hours trying to remove toothpaste footprints from the carpet. Toothpaste footprints? What's that you say?
Shep informed me, "They're clues, Momma. Clues. So Shaggy and Scooby can solve the mystery."
I bet the carpet cleaners charge more than a Scooby snack to make those ghost prints disappear.
There is a reason why I have catapulted myself into homeshowing hades. We need a bigger house. With more bedrooms.
We need a bigger house with more bedrooms because....
We need a bigger house because my husband has informed me that we cannot begin the process to adopt a baby from Ethiopia until we move into a bigger house.
Feel free to pray our house sells.
Soon.

Your husband is wonderful!
You will get it all done, house will sell and you will get a bigger house and a new baby! Life will be good for all!
He is indeed kinda wonderful.
Hey, Ethiopia is a thought for us, too... of course, we're a couple of years away from that (our youngest is only 3 months old!). And yes, this womb service is also closed. :) Are you all staying in TX?
Good luck selling your house! We had ours on the market last year for about six months and ended up taking it off. Not for lack of interest, but for lack of offers. And my personal sanity. We had over 100 showings with a baby under 1 year old. It was a living nightmare. So I wish you better luck than we had. And a much better experience!!!
Staying in Texas, not moving far from home at all.
oh how exciting! do you know the funderburks? they adopted from there and are moving there next month to work with gladney! you can find their blog from mine...
Girl...I am doing the exact same thing right now. I should take pics of all my children's precious "projects" in the form of tatoos on the walls, our phone numbers scrolled on the doors, "I love Clay" written on the carpet...It's so fun trying to "Stage" a house for resale after you've had kids live in it.
I'm not adopting a baby though.
I'll pray your house sells soon. I'm so happy for you.
Love,
The mom of adopted children who is also trying to get her house ready for sale so I wish we lived closer so we could hang out during this exciting time.
So exciting!
Oh it makes my heart so happy to hear that you are hoping to adopt from Ethiopia! We are in process right now and have a referral for an adorable 8 month old baby boy. We are just waiting to pass court to go get him! It is quite a rollercoaster and I know will be worth every second when we hold him in our arms! Praying your house sells so you can start down this wonderful journey!!!

love the "threw" part. so many times, my friend, so many times...glad I am not the only one.
My son was about 2 and "colored" my 3 months old NEW car in sharpie....uuuummm. yea. fun. day..
I have many more of those if you don't have enough of your own!
Congrats on your new journey! That is spectacular!
omg....i am soooo dying over the toothpaste footprints for scooby
i am thankful that my kids havent thought of that yet...
but i feel for you cause we have had plenty of alternate thoughts...tracing their hands with black sharpies on the bright orange freshly painted wall in their room,
writing their name with snuck paint markers in my new *like 2 weeks old but used* van....
it will all pass and we will remember these days and laugh...and be just a bit sad cause they are gone
steff
So excited for you...you are getting ready for great blessings!
Susan
Oh, how exciting! A new baby is definitely motivation for selling your house!
So funny--the picture of the door--but I only earned the right to laugh at that because one of mine smeared Desitin all over a Texas A&M colored wall (painted that way when we moved in, by the way). Oh well, after a few coats of kilz, we painted it a lovely cafe u lait color! Now I hide the Desitin!
Yeah! How wonderful! We are also adopting right now (domestically) and it is the most wonderful scariest thing ever.
I can't wait to hear all about it!
my sister in law is adopting 2 from ethiopia now as well! exciting!
we just took our house off the market after having it on for 2 months. it sucked. just thought i'd throw out that encouragement for you ;-)
you would not believe the kids destruction we had to cover up before we listed it!!!
seriously, i cleaned it every night, then after breakfast, we left and spent as much time out of the house as possible. it was the only way to keep it clean-ish with children around!!! good luck!
Ahhh ... I wouldn't recognize my house or walls without the occasional pencil, pen, or sharpie mark or line or scribble on the wall.
Two words: Magic Eraser. It really is magic, you know. Not the bad Harry Potter magic, but the good Mr. Clean magic.
Heart happy.
Praying.
WAHOOOOOO Mis!! That is SO exciting!!!!
Sell house, sell!!
Missy! That is awesome. I didn't even know Ethiopia was an option. So very wonderful.
And may I recommend "Scrubbing Bubbles" for all your cleaning needs. It has become my new best friend since we have a cream carpet in our living room. I use it on clothes, carpet, the bathroom...I just wish I had discovered it sooner.
Missy,
I've been reading for a good long while and I HAD to leave you a note!
(First, good luck with selling the house. I hope the whole process is smooth!)
My best friend from high school and his wife adopted a beautiful little girl from Ethiopia in November. She'll be 2 in October. In all of your spare time (Ba-hahaha!) check out their blog: aroundtheworldand2kids.wordpress.com. David's post today is about their relationship with their adoption agency, in fact.
Wishing you the best in everything!
When we moved to another town, I couldn't bear to paint over or leave the closet door where my children's growth marks were. We replaced it with a new door, and hung that one in our new garage. That way I can still look at it and cry anytime I want to. If possible, it will travel with us where ever we may roam.
God Bless you and your husband in your next adventure. And good luck with the house.
So happy for you!! Congratulations on the journey to adopt!!
All my doors look like that too :-)
How exciting! I'm not adopting, but I did just start sponsoring another child and guess what...he's in Ethiopia! That country just became near and dear to my heart too. Good luck with everything.
I would totally buy a house with toothpaste footprints and Sharpie artwork. Two less things my kids would have to do after we moved in... (not that we're in the market).
We also just started the adoption process, and had considered Ethiopia for a while.
How exciting! I will be praying...
You, Missy, are a crazy woman. A wonderfully compassionate, your motherhood knows know bounds, crazy woman.
I'm so excited for your news!!!!
You're giving me quite a few LOL's tonight. So excited about your plans to adopt!!
Girlie, I love you... for so many reasons, only one of which is that I now know that my house isn't the only one that looks this way. My hubby isn't the only hubby who had to take apart the pipes in our sink b/c it was clogged only to find a toothbrush, beaded necklace, and toilet paper stuffed down there... Hmmm wonder why Drain O did little good?
And b/c my hubby and I have thought lots and lots about adoption and Ethiopia. I do not know yet if that is what God has planned for the circus. We are praying. Still determining if the circus is done at 3. Once we are both on the same page there we explore whether we go the same route as the last three times, or grow our family through adoption. Something we both are very very interested in and Ethiopia was TOP on our list.
Def eager to keep reading about your family life!! And your cleaning tips. :-)
A TOOTHBRUSH down the sink?? Wow, I am impressed.
I have been interested in starting the adoption process since before Ike was born. Walker was always like, okay, sure, maybe, whatever. Finally he said, no, nothing, we are overwhelmed, not now, no. So it got tabled. And he nixed international years ago, and wanted to go thru CPS. And now - suddenly - HE is the one that is so gung ho about it, and so gung ho about going international, I am in awe. I am the one who is going, really? Now? Hmmmm....
I am telling you, it is that submission thing in action.
But, our house has to sell. If it doesn't, then, God doesn't want us to adopt right now.
As far as my cleaning tips - the WD40 pen, which is 99 cents at Home Depot, is magic on crayon on the wall. Magic.
WOW! How exciting for you! Good luck with the sale- sounds like you have a great attitude about the whole thing. Have you read the series over at Conversion Diary? Jennifer is interviewing a couple who are starting the process of adopting HIV positive siblings from Africa. The story is very inspiring! Link here: http://www.conversiondiary.com/2009/07/one-couples-journey-to-adopting-hiv.html
Best Wishes!
So exciting!! Hope the house sells fast!
Missy,
I love reading your blog!! You have been such an encouragement to lots of us mommies who think we're the only ones!
And now adopting from Ethiopia!! Our family is very involved in Ethiopia and my middle daughter is returning from a mission trip there tomorrow! Blessings on every step of your process!
