Next we'll crank up the air conditioner and light up the fireplace

This morning Shep woke up and requested pancakes for breakfast. And because since daylight savings time we actually are waking up in plenty of stinking time to make a real "brestfast" as my kids all call it, I decided to indulge him.

And I decided in my pre-coffee haze that pumpkin pancakes would be a fantastic way to kick off Fall.

And if you just said, "Kick off Fall? What? It's been Fall for a month now!" then obviously you must live near Kelly, not in live Houston, where God blessed us with different seasons: Almost Summer, Summer, Still Summer, and Oh My Skull It's Christmas And It's 85 Degrees Outside.

But the calendar does say Fall, so I'm feeling pumpkin-y. I am not a pancake person (I know, I know, how unAmerican of me) but I LOVE these:

Pumpkin Pie Pancakes

2 c. Bisquick
1 c. canned pumpkin
1 egg
1 c. milk (use more if the batter's too thick)
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 large spoon Karo
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 t. salt

Enjoy the masquerade!

Yum! I love simple resipes and this looks simple! It sounds good, too! I am not a huge pumpkin lover...but, I think I would eat this! How did they turn out for you?

They are awesome. Really, really fluffy, every time I make them.

Yummm! I will definitly have to try this out soon. I make pancakes every morning for me and the Little Guy, but it's the kind from the can (if you've never tried Batter Blaster, it's AMAZING! Don't let the cheesy name and fact that it's from a can stop you). I'm up here in Dallas, and we too are having a summery Fall!

Yum. I emailed this to my daughter (a pumpkin pi fanatic) and that was her one word reply! Figured that meant I should add it to our family recipe vault! http://bowersrecipes.blogspot.com/2009/11/pumpkin-pie-pancakes.html

Guess I should proofread! I do know how to spell pie (I'm much more familiar with pie than pi, anyway!).

Be thankful you can find canned pumpkin. There is a shortage of sorts around here. My friend in Chicago warned me about it in her blog and lo and behold, we are short of pumpkin here in Kansas too. So, I'm saving mine for Thanksgiving pie.

Oh thanks for the recipe!!! CAn't wait to try them!! Hopefully the kids will like them. Sometimes I throw a banana in our pancakes and it doesn't go over too well!

Ha! Up here at 9000 ft in Colorado, fall has been OVER for a month already, lol! We have these seasons: winter, still winter, more winter, and july- but you still need a jacket.

Um ... Yum.

Love the seasons. we are in NE Oklahoma and somehow my normal weather pattern that is somewhat similar to what you describe has been hijacked and we landed in MONSOON season...it goes something like this....Light rain, tornado, more rain, flooding

arrghh we are an inch shy so far of beating the record set for an ENTIRE YEAR in 1870 something....yuck!

steff

Yeah, I don't do pancakes either. I can't flip them to save my life and wind up making a huge mess. So we do waffles instead. Maybe I should try pumpkin waffles...

Ok, while I feel TERRIBLY shallow leaving yet another trivial comment about Pumpkin Pancakes given your most recent post.....

I had to write and say THANK YOU for sharing this. I think it will likely become a standby pancake recipe in our house! If it's ok I'd like to use it on my blog and link back to you of course to give credit where credit is due!

Thanks again!
